The Manhattan Bridge is a historic suspension bridge in New York City built in 1909, connecting Lower Manhattan to Downtown Brooklyn, and is known for its staggering views and architectural importance.
This photo, taken approximately twenty years ago, for this painting was during one of my many trips to the Big Apple. During an evening stroll on the Brooklyn side, a thunderstorm appeared over the horizon, and I decided to watch it move over Manhattan. The result was the photo used as a basis for this painting.
My motivation to paint this scene, at this time, is my personal rendering of what I see brewing politically not only in New York City but also across the United States… a storm of untold magnitude that only one sick individual wants to see happen.
